DEAR PARTICIPANTS AND VISITORS OF MIT DEMO 08,

We warmly welcome you to Malmö International Theatre DEMO festival – the pilot for local and international exchange of artistic and theoretical experience!

What is MIT DEMO about?

MIT DEMO is not intended to be just another theatre festival showing the supposed-to-be avantgarde productions of Sweden or other countries. MIT DEMO is a festival-like think tank of artists, theorists and producers developing their works and thoughts in course of the festival and tackling important questions and tendencies in contemporary scenic practice.

Being located in Malmö, considering its intimate relations to northern Europe, MIT DEMO 08 concentrates a cross-national perspective on the contemporary scenic practices and theory. The purpose being both trying to trigger off new perspectives and changes within the Swedish theatre context, but also to gather a segment of young experimental artists for exchange and networking.

The main focus of MIT DEMO 08 concerns the relation between practice and theory, but we are also interested in the relation between aesthetics and production conditions as well as organisational structures. With local and international guests from Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Germany and France, we want to compare and discuss different artistic approaches and conditions of art production and reception in Western Europe. The ultimate aim being to claim territories of cultural production that today remain outside the officially sanctioned structures and categories, MIT DEMO 08 wants to strengthen an artistic approach to the fundamental questions of reality/fiction and action/representation.

ATTENTION!

Dear visitor of MIT-DEMO 08 website!

Are you interested in being an artist-activist, in tackling social realities with artistic means? Do you feel the desire for doing actions in public space you’re usually not allowed to?

Do you want to learn artistic interview methods and to apply them as interventions at one of Malmö’s central squares? If so, we welcome you to our 4-day-workshop Reality Crime Scene during MIT-DEMO 08!
We are looking for workshop participants with whom we will commonly challenge the supposed to be-reality of Malmö. Together we will turn Triangeln into a crime scene and motivate the Swedish audience to commit the crimes they always wished for!

Further information will be put on our website www.eatwork.de soon.

Please send a short text on why you would like to participate, personal interests and experiences to: janine.eisenaecher@eatwork.de.

Each participant may bring 2-3 personal objects related to the issue of “crime”, a digital photo camera (if you have one) and warm clothes for interventions in public space.

Deadline: 24th November 2008
The workshop is free of charge. We're looking forward to meeting you!

/ Yours, Eisenächer/Harder CLAIMS

Now it´s down to some fine tuning to get the perfect festival. But we´ll get there. We´ll get there. Check out the web site.
